It might have only been the top of the first, but it was a record sixth home run for Freddie Freeman.
The Los Angeles Dodgers first baseman became the first player in MLB history to record a home run in six straight World Series games when he cranked a two-run homer out of Yankee Stadium in Game 4 on Tuesday.
The hit, which gave the Dodgers an immediate 2-0 pad, was Freeman’s fourth of the 2024 World Series. His previous two World Series home runs came in Game 5 and Game 6 of the 2021 finals. Then, Freeman hit a homer in each to help lead the Atlanta Braves to the Commissioner’s Trophy in six matchups against the Houston Astros.

After Game 3 at Yankee Stadium on Monday, Freeman was told he tied the World Series record by homering in five consecutive games. To that, he replied: “Let’s hopefully make it six.”
A day later, he claimed the top spot, eclipsing George Springer’s previous record with half a dozen home runs.
