Tennessee Titans running back Tony Pollard was ruled out with an ankle injury for the team’s Week 17 game against the Jacksonville Jaguars, the team announced Saturday.
Pollard was unable to practice the last two weeks, but that didn’t stop him from suiting up in Week 16. But it is a different case this weekend.
The 27-year-old signed with Tennessee this offseason after spending five seasons with Dallas Cowboys. In last week’s game, Pollard crossed the 1,000 rushing yards in a season for the third straight season. In 15 games, he has 1,017 rushing yards — which ranks 11th in the league — and five touchdowns. He has also added 41 receptions for 257 yards.

With Pollard sidelined, the Titans will turn to second-year back Tyjae Spears. The 23-year-old missed four games this season but has been coming on strong in recent weeks. In Week 15, Spears had a season-high six receptions for 87 yards and TD. Last week, he tallied 66 total yards and two TDs. On the season, Spears has five touchdowns, 217 rushing yards and 27 receptions for 216 receiving yards.
Safety Amani Hooker was also ruled out with a shoulder injury. Hooker is second on the team in tackles (71) and is tied for fifth in the league with five interceptions.
Tennessee’s matchup with Jacksonville will see the loser in position to land a better draft pick in the 2025 NFL Draft. The Titans (3-12) have a six percent chance of landing the No. 1 pick, according to The Athletic’s projection model. Tennessee currently will pick in the No. 4 spot if the season ended Saturday.
