Manchester United winger Amad has signed a new five-year contract to keep him at the Old Trafford club until 2030.
“I am really proud to have signed this new contract,” said Amad, whose previous deal was due to expire at the end of this season.
“I have had some incredible moments with this club already but there is so much more to come. I have huge ambitions in the game and I want to achieve history at Manchester United.”
He added: “It has been a difficult season for everyone, but I fully believe that we are on the right path and the future is going to be really special. I am ready to give everything to help the team and make our supporters proud again.”
Last month, head coach Ruben Amorim expressed his desire to keep Amad at the club while the player said that he wished to remain at United for “a long time”.
Amad has been one of the standout performers since Amorim’s arrival in November. He was initially used as a wing-back, flanking a revamped defence that features a back three, but has been used in a more attacking role in recent matches.
Amad, 22, has scored six goals in 28 games across all competitions this season and has appeared in all 12 matches under Amorim. He scored a 90th-minute winner in December’s Manchester derby as United beat Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium.
Amad came through the youth system at Serie A club Atalanta and joined United in January 2021 as an 18-year-old. He was loaned to Scottish top-flight side Rangers for the second half of the 2021-22 season before spending the following campaign on loan at Sunderland in the Championship.
The Ivorian experienced a breakthrough at United during the 2023-24 season which was highlighted by an extra-time winner in a Carabao Cup quarter-final against Liverpool. He has been capped six times by Ivory Coast and featured for the Olympic team at the 2020 Games in Tokyo.
Amad’s new deal is the second contract extension at Old Trafford this month, after the club triggered an option to extend Harry Maguire’s deal until 2026.
